The Agriculture Machinery and Technology Program (AMRP)under AMTC plays a pivotal role in introducing efficient and cost-effective farm machinery, thereby boosting productivity and rendering farming more commercially viable. The center conducts both adoptive and adaptive research to ensure the suitability of these machines, leading to improved yields and a reduction in both labor shortages and the physical burden on farmers.

Under the Agriculture Research and Technology Program, the center engages in activities pertaining to three main areas: IoT-based agriculture, smart agriculture, automation, and drones, categorized under the umbrella of Precision Agriculture. Activities related to hydroponics, greenhouses, and micro irrigations fall under the domain of Protected Agriculture. The third category, Farm Power and Machines, encompasses land preparation, pre and post-harvest technologies, and the development of various farm machines.

Moreover, AMTC extends its research scope to include social aspects (research) as needed, supporting projects such as the Gyalsung Project. This holistic approach ensures that the center not only addresses technological advancements but also considers the socio-economic factors influencing agriculture.
